Sursum Corda, a historically African American neighborhood in Washington DC’s Northwest quadrant, faces challenges from disinvestment. Despite this, the resilient community seeks to preserve its identity. The Perry School, located adjacent to the site and a vital part of Sursum Corda’s history, plans to expand its programs for greater youth and community engagement. Our architectural project aims to seamlessly integrate community zones and residential units, thereby amplifying the Perry School’s impact, fostering a more cohesive and interconnected neighborhood.
